W7: If I had a choice...

When I was a child, there was a stray dog that always stayed outside my house named Melon. I wasn't exactly the owner of the melon, although it stayed outside my house every day and night. I will give her food and a blanket and also play with her. Melon will sometimes disappear, and I won't be able to find her outside of my house, but I'm not worried about it because I can easily find her by walking around the neighbourhood or she will return on her own. At that time I wished to have a dog and I kept begging my parents but they did not agree, saying that it was too dirty to have a dog and even if I had one, there was no extra space for it at home. I felt sad because I could only play with Melon to relieve my boredom everyday. One day, a loud bang startled me. I ran quickly to the outside to check what was going on, and I saw Melon fall into a pool of blood. The car who bang Melon had driven away. People were coming over to look; I was frozen, and it took me a while to come

W3: My hate for...

Rain, rain, go away.
Come again some other day...

I'm in a grumpy mood to write this blog. It’s raining outside now, so I have inspiration from the rain. Yes, I hate rainy days, and I’m an absolute "rain hater!" I know many of you love rain, but not me. For me, I think rain is just super annoying! Why do some people like the rain? Where is the joy in being wet?

Rainy days are most often known to contribute to depression and sadness. This is due to the dip in serotonin levels caused by the lack of sunshine. (Nancy MacGregor MA, 2022) Rains make me feel sad, and I feel so lonely when it’s raining. It makes me miss someone, my loved ones, and hugs. Rain makes me overthink and feel super depressed. I can actually feel so emotional and down during rainy days, and yes, it actually ruins my mood. Rainy days are so loud and noisy. It is totally not relaxing, and it will distract me when I’m studying, sleeping, or doing anything! I can’t do anything when it's raining because I don’t have motivation to do anything anymore! It messed up my plans and made me feel so lifeless and hopeless.

Why do I say that rain messed up my plans? It is because it hinders a lot of things we’ve planned. People usually cancel their plans just because of rainy days because it is very inconvenient! I'm not able to comfortably go anywhere, the street and road are full of mud, walking in mud messed up my shoe! I can’t go back home because it always starts when I don’t have my umbrella! It's my good hair day, but it will get greasy and flat on rainy days! Why do people love rainy days? Is that really enjoyable, walking around in soggy clothes and shoes no matter what you wear?

I hate rainy days. I hate driving in the rain. One of the reasons is that rain causes traffic jams. Other than this, rain has been the cause of thousands of car accidents and injuries year in and year out due to the foggy weather. Especially when it rains after a dry spell because fresh rainfall can bring up oil and grease from the road and create slippery road conditions. Wet roads can affect your braking distance. Heavy rain also causes floods, which will imperil lives and possessions.

So, rain, if you’re reading this, please go away!
